The story is interesting from two perspectives. First, it is the latest in a string of recent looks again at "old data" that reveal new stuff. Lunar Orbiter, Apollo, Voyager, Viking: all are being looked at again with new discoveries. Second, it just goes to show you...we don't know everything.

ReplyDeleteGiven how much Hard SF you read, I think you'll remember the Stephen Baxter story where they try to seismically "restart" the moon.
