Chubby, brunette Eunice Kinnison sat in a rocker, reading the Sunday papers and listening to the radio. Her husband Ralph lay sprawled upon the davenport, smoking a cigarette and reading the current issue of EXTRAORDINARY STORIES against an unheard background of music. Mentally, he was far from Tellus, flitting in his super-dreadnaught through parsec after parsec of vacuous space. E.E. "Doc" Smith, Triplanetary, Chapter 5: "1941"

I Blame John Steinbeck
Cheap RV Living. Some interesting stuff, but I can't see it for extended periods of time. I blame John Steinbeck.
Steinbeck's camper, Rocinante, is on display in the Steinback Center in Salinas. It looked mighty cramped for an old guy traveling cross-country. Of course, Steinbeck's son thinks "Travels with Charley" was a load of bull, and that his dad didn't travel half the distance he claimed.

I did not know it was still in existence. I wonder if we can blame Steinbeck for RV's like we can blame Clarke for eco-tourism...
